Octomaid Kamini
July 27, 2008
This time I decided to sculpt something completely different. I got the idea in the Barcelona's aquarium, where I spent my vacations a week ago.
Here are just a few pictures of my work so far. It is a bit more difficult to do this than I expected, so it will probably take more time to finish it too:) Be patient please...

As you can see, I'm trying to make an octopus; the opper part of the body will be human.
First I made a wire armature and covered it all with white floral tape.

The next step was to put some clay over it...

Here you can see the main features of my sculpt; still a lot of work needed...
This is all I managed to do today. My fingers started to hurt from kneading the clay.

Well, because I want my octopus look real, I made swimming web between her tentacles - I took me quite some time to do it... Below you can see it in two different angles.

Now comes the heavy part - I have to make the susction cups on her tentacles. Here goes nothing...
I have to say this was really hard work; each tentacle took me more than an hour to finish. It was worthed though, they look amaizing:)
It is time to finish her torso and then make her head; I'm still deciding on how her head should look like... I'm deciding between hair or tentacles instead.

New day, new ideas:) I started the day with her head; it came out like I wanted in second attemp. Her torso in also finished. I changed the position of her hands a little bit, because I added a little something...
As you can see, that little something is a small octopus in her hand - I thought it would be a nice touch.
Here she sits on a glass and of course this means I have to make her a stand...
Her face doesn't look like much now, but wait until I paint it...

She is now baked and waiting to be painted. She will have to wait for a while, because I'm going to Germany to practice my hip hop dancing:)
If you are wondering about her name, she doesn't have it yet. I will decide on it, when she is painted.
Bye bye for now...

Hi there, I'm back again:) I just finished sculpting her stand. I had looked up the net to find some pictures of corals and found two that I really like. Because I am a big protector of nature I decided to sculpt them rather than buy real ones.
This is how I started...

First one is the brain coral and the other...well I forgot:)

They need to be painted next...
